The Changing Brain
Dear colleagues,
The International Neuropsychological Society (INS) Midyear-Meeting in 2012 will be held in Oslo, Norway, June 27-30. The congress is a joint arrangement with the 11th Nordic Meeting in Neuropsychology. Additionally, the Federation of European Neuropsychological Societies will take part in the program, thus making the congress the largest and most important meeting about brain and behavior relationships to have taken place in Norway.
A major focus in the study of brain and behavior has been detection of cognitive and behavioral consequences of neurological and psychiatric disorders. Our conviction is that clinical disciplines, of importance to public health, also must develop strong knowledge about recovery of function, intervention and treatment. This is still a major challenge despite increasing knowledge about brain plasticity. Therefore, we challenge organizers of clinically relevant symposia and other contributors to include presentations and discussions that focus on intervention, treatment or recovery. On this basis, we have chosen The Changing Brain as the main theme of the conference even though the meeting covers a range of topics in neuropsychology, neurology and psychiatry.
For the social part, Oslo has a lot to offer at this time of the year; a multitude of cultural arrangements, outdoor restaurants and interesting museums. The City of Oslo will host a reception in the City Hall on the opening night of the congress. Some of Norway’s major attractions, such as the fjords and mountains of the western and northern coast, are easily accessed by air, road or train from Oslo.
We look forward to seeing you in Oslo in June 2012!
